Sea Cucumbers

Picture a world of tentacled and transparent "sea cucumbers," primitive "Dumbos" that flap ear-like fins, and tubeworms that feed on oil deposits. These weird creatures just one of many spices that scientists discovered living in the depths of the ocean, where it is little or no sunshine In this worldstill, a lot of creatures are waiting to discover.

Sea cucumbers are invertebrates of the Holothuroidea class of the echinoderms. Their bodies are elongated along the axis passing through the mouth and resemble sausage or cucumber. The mouth and anus are located at two opposite ends. It differs from other echinoderms by the lengthening of the axis passing in the direction of the poles. This elongation causes the animal to lie on its side. Around the mouth, there are ten to ten senses, touches, and hunting tentacles for catching prey. They are usually 3–27 cm tall. There are also 60 cm long ones. About 900 species are known.

 Sea Cucumber Habitats

They are found in shallow places of the seas near the coast. The ambulatory tube moves slowly with feet. They also use their tube feet as a sense organ. Sea cucumbers without tube feet live in U-shaped cavities at the bottom. It is provided by a pair of lungs or organs called the respiratory tract, which is inhaled in the body cavity. They have the feature of renewing themselves. They reproduce by spawning, the shape of the males and females are very similar. Some are hermaphrodites.

When faced with danger, they implement impressive strategies. Some species can immobilize their prey by secreting a white tubule. Locals make this tubule and make reef shoes and bandages. Another impressive feature is that they remove their stomachs from their anus and find their environment in a toxic soup. An average aquarium full of fish can kill it but it will die on its own.

 Special Abilities

Some species can inflate themselves as much as a soccer ball, while others can look like pebbles by spraying water. Their most important feature is their ability to transform themselves into liquid thanks to the structure called capture collagen all over their body. While in liquid form, they can pass through small cracks and return to their original state.
