Gold is the rarest, the most valuable element in the universe. Because it comes from stars. But in the world economy, it is not the most valuable thing.
Gold is one of the rarest elements in the universe because it is produced by stars and is formed only under certain conditions. The normal activity of stars doesn't produce gold. This element can occur in the very strong collision such as neutron stars. After the extraordinary collision like that, the occurring gold amount can be 10 moon mass and this gold separates the whole space. The diamond is made up of carbon atoms in the mantle layer of the world. Gold was here at the stage of the creation of the world. Because of its heavy metal, is buried in the core of the world, like the other heavy metals. So, there's a lot of gold near the earth's crust that is impossible to reach for now. Some of this leaked to the earth in time and hid among the rocks.
On the other hand, diamond is formed by the conversion of carbon at least 150 km below the surface and at a tremendous temperature such as 1000 degrees Celsius, by being exposed to abnormal pressure and is usually carried to the surface by volcanic eruptions. Due to this process, diamond is in less amount than gold. Actually, gold is more valuable and carbon is one of the most abundant elements.
